Anthony W Johnson has created a unique, groundbreaking way of fusing dance, magic, theatrical illusion, martial arts and music, combining these powerful forces to create a thrilling, spectacular and inspirational production.
Ballet Magique’s performances, like the ballet, feature fully trained and highly technical dancers and like an opera or musical, the cast also includes singers. However, unlike an opera or a musical, where the singers take centre stage, a magic show where the magician stands alone, or a dance show where the dancers simply dance, the dancers, martial artists and singers perform magic throughout the story, captivating the audience with spectacular grand illusions often as they have never been performed before.
Ballet Magique and Anthony W Johnson are represented globally by World Dance Management. Marina Blore explains: “We are very excited to be working with Anthony and The Ballet Maqique Company. We are always looking for something new and inspiring in dance and this Company crosses boundaries, it has international appeal and creates pure spectacle. We are looking forward to building relationships with producers, promoters, festivals and venues around the world to help bring this brand new dance form and Anthony’s creative ideas to a large and mutli-cultural audience.”
Ballet Magique’s Les Vampires has set the dance & theatrical world on fire. Les Vampires is hip, hot and slick! Vampires and priests battle for love and life, with jaw dropping feats of magic, dance, illusion and martial arts! With this three part trilogy, fans eagerly anticipate the mystery and intrigue of each Vampire Chronicle.
The Ring of The Rose
The Ring of the Rose is a passionate story of love versus obsession, beauty versus commitment and joy versus sacrifice. In this parable of love lost and then found, lies a story within a story where two brothers battle against an outsider who falls in love with their sister. At the height of this magical tale, a spirit tells them the story of the “Rose”. Two couples fight with all of their might to win the love and desire of the “Rose”. As each couple vies for his attention, they eventually resort to manipulation, deception and jealous rage towards one another.
As their quest continues, behind the masks their true hearts and natures are revealed. Finally, however, their selfish efforts prove futile as the “Rose” ultimately decides to keep those who have the respect, loyalty and commitment to him – his very own thorns… by his side. It is the thorns that have loved and protected his beauty. It is they who encircled him with a ring of solidarity and taught him that the true meaning of love lies within respect, sacrifice and devotion. On the other hand, for the brothers, the “Rose” represents time lost. For it was their belief that love is something that you take, that is yours to possess. For us, in this life, the rose is a symbol, simply a reminder that we love and are loved every year on February 14th.
With original music score produced by Gene Wooley, the fusion of east and west brings this story to life through dance, Wushu (martial arts) magic, music and theatre.
A dramatic tale of pride, lust, greed, power, obsession and the games we all play to ultimately win true love.
