Charlie started dancing at the age of seven and began her dance training three years later at Arts Educational School before moving on to Laine Theatre Arts. She trained in all styles of dance including RAD ballet and ISTD modern, commercial, jazz and tap. Charlie has also extensive training in drama and singing
So You Think You Can Dance Winner
Charlie Bruce literally leapt into the homes of millions of viewers when she won BBC1’s So You Think You Can Dance in 2010 at the age of 19. The youngest contestant in the competition, she beat thousands of talented dancers from all over the UK, having clearly demonstrated her ability to perform all styles of dance as she was challenged every week to tackle new choreography in so many different dance genres.
On winning the So You Think You Can Dance crown and £100k prize money, Charlie was praised by all four judges; Nigel Lythgoe, Arlene Phillips, Sisco Gomez and Louise Redknapp. Arlene said: “What you have done tonight is mega, honey!”
West End Shows
She went on to perform the lead role of Baby in the West End production of Dirty Dancing and although still a young woman, Charlie has worked with Matthew Bourne, the National Youth Ballet and she performed in Los Angeles in the American version of So You Think You Can Dance.
Charlie has just appeared in the West End production of FLASH MOB, a high energy dance show produced by World Dance Management, in which she attracted rave reviews.
TV And Film
Now keen to move into television and film, Charlie’s bubbly and confident personality is perfect for presenting roles and she is also interested in working as a mentor for dancers.
