Big Brother’s Bit On The Side
World Dance Management is representing The Zaporozhian Cossacks, as currently seen on Big Brother’s Bit On The Side every Saturday night. The dancers can be seen at the end of the programme, creating bespoke choreography each week to a music track that has been chosen by the evicted celebrity.
History of the name
Already established as successful corporate and theatre dancers, the groups’ name The Zaporozhian Cossacks comes from Ukrainian Cossacks who lived beyond the rapids of the Dnieper river, the land also known as the Great Meadow in Central Ukraine. Today most of its territory is flooded by the waters of Kakhovka Reservoir. During the 16th, 17th and well into the 18th centuries, the Zaporozhian Cossacks became a strong political and military force that challenged the authority of the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Tsardom of Russia, the Ottoman Empire and the Crimean Khanate.
Theatrical performances
The group are perfect for joining ballet and opera companies providing authentic Cossack dancing. They have performed as part of The Royal Opera House’s production of The Tsarinas Slippers with one critic saying: “The biggest applause of the night went deservedly to the team of spectacular high-kicking Cossack dancers who emerged from beneath the skirts of a giant golden Tsarina effigy!”
Corporate Events
A favourite for themed corporate events or festivals, The Zaphorozhian Cossacks travel the world and have entertained multi-cultural audiences for companies including Mars, Smirnoff and Water Aid. From two to ten dancers including male and female performers the group can adapt to suit any size of event.
